New Oxygen OS 12.1 Android 12 HotFix update rolling out for OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T, and 7T Pro

The OnePlus 7 series is now getting the most anticipated Oxygen OS 12.1 OTA update with the latest OnePlus apps and new Android 12 goodies. The firm is all set for a global rollout, including North American and European (EEA) variants, following today’s hotfix update.

As for the changelog, the new incremental OTA update mainly fixes known issues and improves system stability.

From the stable Oxygen OS 12.1 update, this is a small incremental update ranging from 74 MB to 111 MB for various OnePlus 7 devices.

Android 12 features a new wallpaper-based theming engine based on the brand-new Material U Visual. This theme engine will automatically apply a system-wide theme with different color palettes based on the wallpaper you set on your home screen. It will ask you to choose accent colors for various elements of the system.

OnePlus has its own implementation of Material You as well integrated into Oxygen OS 12.1. The new user interface is baked into Oxygen OS 12 based on Android 12. Smart Battery Engine is the key highlight of the update as it guarantees prolonged battery life.

A new feature called HyperBoost is an end-to-end frame rate stabilizer. Dark mode now supports three adjustable levels for a more personalized and comfortable user experience.

It also brings the stunning OnePlus AOD to the OnePlus 7 series.

According to users, Oxygen OS 12.1 is

  • No sign of lag or any major performance issues issues

The previous Open Beta 2 improved system stability overall. Optimized the charging speed. Optimized fingerprint unlocking.

The update also fixed the issue where double taps to wake or turn off the screen worked abnormally. Fixed the issue that adjusting vibration intensity worked abnormally.

Most importantly, it fixed the issue where the camera app crashed after turning on Ultra Steady mode.

How to install stable Android 12 on OnePlus 7/7Pro/7T/7TPro?

MP version – Stable official version
DP version – Developer Preview version
OBT Version – Open Beta version

MP and OBT to DP upgrade guide—via Local OTA Update

Note: This upgrade method will erase all the contents of the phone, please be sure to backup first.

  1. Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server.
  2. Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.
  3. Go to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Click top right icon -> Local upgrade -> Click on the corresponding installation package -> Upgrade -> System upgrade completed to 100%.
  4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
  5. Update successful.

Downgrade to Android 11
