In this guide, we can show you the steps to release OnePlus 9/9 Pro/9R gadgets the usage of MSM download tool.OnePlus’s latest flagships have already caused quite a stir. Although there are concerns about the newly updated OxygenOS due to its proximity to OneUI, some connections to the original OxyegnOS remain.

With these lines, this OEM equipment has always been at the forefront when it comes to custom development. And the ninth iteration has taken the series in the right direction. There’s a lot to try, from custom ROMs flashing and recovery like TWRP to managing rights through Magisk.

However, each of these adaptations also comes with a risk factor. If you do not perform these customizations correctly, the device is more likely to crash. If it is soft brick or boot loop. Then you can easily fix it by flashing the stock OxygenOS ROM via fastboot commands. However, the real problem arises when the device is hardly bricked.

Well, in them, you can use the device’s emergency download mode and flash force the firmware through the MSM tool. And in this guide, we’ll show you how to do it. So without further ado, let’s start with the guide to unlock OnePlus 9/9 Pro / 9R devices using the MSM download tool.

How to Unbrick OnePlus 9/9 Pro/9R using MSM Download Tool

STEP 1: Disable Firewall/Antivirus

Many users have reported that they were unable to use the tool because the Windows Defender or Antivirus app conflicted with the tool. Therefore, it is better to disable them temporarily. Here’s how to do it on Windows Defender:

  1. To begin with, search for Windows Defender Firewall from the Start menu.
  2. Then click on Turn Windows Defender Firewall On or Off from the left menu bar.
  3. Finally, select Turn off Windows Defender Firewall under both the Public and Private network sections.

STEP 2: Disable Windows Driver Signature Verification

You will also need to disable driver signature verification on your Windows PC so that you can install the signed in drivers for Qualcomm (mentioned in the next step) and MSM tools.

STEP 3: Install Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 Drivers

Next up, you would require the drivers so that your PC is able to recognize the connected device in EDL Mode. As a result, your device will then be recognized as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 by the Device Manager.

However, if you do not install these drivers, your PC will not be able to identify the connected device and the Device Manager will list the device as QHUSB_BULK.

STEP 4: Download MSM Download Tool for OnePlus 9/9 Pro

Unlike other tools, MSM does not come as a standalone tool. It also comes bundled with the firmware file. So you should only use the MSM tool that is compatible with your device. If you want to use it for another device for any reason (although not recommended), be sure to change the OPS firmware for your device.

Note: I have added three patch MSM tools [in addition to the usual MSM tools] for the Target OnePlus 9 on the Indian variant. Although I have outlined the use of all three modified tools, if you have any problems, you can go for the hit and trial procedure. Since your device is already bricked, things won’t get any worse! But still, the final decision is in your hands [and there is always a risk factor].

Patched OnePlus 9 Global MSM Download Tool [Support for Indian Variant]

Before trying this tool, make sure that “sha256” is checked and “Use Lite Firehose” is unchecked, as shown below. Using the 9 Pro Indian variant, you have to flash these brick firmware and then use the tool below.
Another thing to note is that if you are flashing a global unit that is still running global software, select O2 in the drop down. On the other hand, if you are flashing a global or any other unit that was flashed with Indian 9 Pro, select India in the drop down.

Patched T-Mobile MSM Tool for OnePlus 9 Indian Variant

If you have a T-Mobile OnePlus 9, by region, use one of the following modified MSM tools. As before, make sure “sha256” is checked and “Use Lite Firehose” is unchecked. If the T-Mobile version works for you, you need a bootloader with tokens Must be unlocked and then use the Global Downgrade package to return to the global firmware.
