The Huawei P20 Lite was released on March 26, 2018. It features a 5.84″ LCD with a 1080 x 2280 pixel display. The Kirin 659 chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB of storage. The main camera is 16+2MP and the selfie camera is 16MP. The battery has a 3000mAh capacity with 18W fast charging support. It initially ran on Android 8 with EMUI 9.0 on top, later got upgraded to Android 9.
But, it has been more than two years since the Huawei P20 Lite arrived. The users are wondering if they will get to tweak their devices with different custom ROMs. Sadly, there isn’t much available.
What is Custom ROM?
They are mainly based on AOSP where developers create different ROMs by adding or creating features that are not available on stock ROMs.
- Improved Performance
- Battery life improvement
- Latest Android versions
- Exclude excess bloatware
- Root access
It’s important to tell you that for installing the custom ROM on Huawei P20 Lite, you have to unlock the bootloader first then root it. Unlocking the bootloader will end up voiding your warranty. It is advisable to backup your data before giving a shot at it. Moreover, Gadgetsay is no way responsible for any damage to the device and data.
Custom ROMs available for Huawei P20 Lite
Pixel Experience P v9.0
Pixel Experience is an AOSP based ROM with all Pixel goodies (wallpaper, UI, etc). It seems to be an Unofficial ROM based on Android 9. Some of the features seem to be working which include Touchscreen, Adb, Audio, Boot, Bluetooth, Internal/External storage, Sensors, Wifi, and RIL. Whereas, Hotspot Wifi and Camera don’t seem to be working. This ROM is a feast for the ones who prefer Pixel devices.
crDroid is designed to improve the performance, reliability, and customizability of stock Android. Designed from the ground up to be simple and lightweight for your device. This version is based on LineageOS 15.1.
You will need to install Gapps separately to use Google services properly. Some of the working features are Touchscreen, Adb / Mtp, Audio, Boot, Bluetooth, Internal/External storage, Sensors, Wifi, RIL, Camera, and probably everything for now.
These are the only two which is recommended to try out because the rest haven’t received any updates for a long time, above mentioned ones too.
